Global
The game has not progressed as much as I wished it did this month. I ended up being very busy and accumulated lots of stress from my personal life... I will be unavailable around the start of n ext month and shall move to a new place afterwards. Starting from September I should be entirely back in track regarding the game's development until its release in November, if all goes well.
Cobble arms
It is now way easier to control Cobble's arms to draw or rub things. Cobble's arms will automatically be drawn to the mouse cursor. It is possible to draw in both first and third person with a special camera. However, animations for hands and other poses are yet to be finished.
Dirt Paint
As in v0.3, it is possible to clean Talas' talons and to draw in the dirt and dust accumulated under his soles. Over successive modifications, this feature stopped working. I ended up able to bring this feature back and to optimize it even better. All that is left is to replicate the cleaning and drawings in multiplayer.
AI - Hide and Seek
Talas now shall take some time before actually noticing you depending on several parameters, such as distance, if you are in front of him, if he is distracted, alerted, and so on.
To run in front of Talas while flailing your arms around won't be enough if he is distracted by something else. It may even be dangerous for you!
I still need to create some visual feedback for the player. I am currently thinking about either adding a visual indicator atop Talas' head, or an audio cue.
Bed Situation and Armchair
I started working on bed-related animations, mostly tests as I still need to do edits here and there for the situational system.
As a reminder, the situational system allows characters to interact with their environment with elements tied to animations, such as Cobble being solestuck or grabbed into Talas' hand.
In the bed case, this system will allow Talas to get in bed and to move to different spots on said bed.
I made the layout of base animations, up to 27 so far without counting the animations allowing Talas to look around when in position.
Animation layouts are very basic animations containing base keys in order to preview an intent and what is happening, but aren't in any way the final animations.
At the end of the month, I mainly focused on Talas' armchair with more work animation.
